The Washington Post and New York Times reportedf late on Tuesday that the antitrust probe is centered onwhethef (NASDAQ:GOOG), (NASDAQ:AAPL), (NASDAQ:YHOO), and otherws agreed not to recruit each other's employees. The stories citec unnamed sources the papers said are familiarr withthe matter. The investigation is reportedly in its early with the papers saying that the government has requested documents and informationh fromtargeted companies. The inquiry is seen as anothert sign that the Obama administratiohn will be more aggressive on antitrust laws than his predecessorf and Silicon Valley tech firm s are a focus ofthat attention.
The Justicee Department is currently also investigating a proposed settlementbetweeb Google, authors and publishers to resolve a copyrighr dispute, the Wall Street Journal has reported citing unnamed sources. The Federal Trade Commission has also asked questionzs about whether having Google CEO Eric Schmidty and formerGenentech Inc. CEO Art Levinson on both the Applr and Google board is a violation ofantitrusgt laws.
